Seems crazy that this used to work. When receiving the.ics attachment as a download from a web link (i.e.

“add to calendar”), opening that attachment sends it to a NEW EMAIL in Outlook (Mac) 2016 rather than a new calendar item. Dragging the downloaded attachment over to the Outlook 2016 calendar does work, but in doing that you have no idea what date the invitation was for because it just puts it on the calendar instead of creating a new calendar entry that you can see and then click save/close like on Windows. The only way I was able to see what date the invite was for, was to also do an “Open With” for the attachment and force it to also go to the Apple Calendar. Then, I could search there and find it by the subject name of the event. (I had to do this as the search in Outlook 2016 Mac showed nothing about that subject).
Share your Calendar. Open Outlook 2011. Click on the Calendar button in the lower left hand corner. Click Permissions in the menu bar at the top. Select the person you are looking for once they appear in the box below. Then click OK to add them. The person will now be added to the list.
Then, going back to Outlook 2016 and to the now known date, I could see that it indeed came in to Outlook. Bizarre and unacceptable.

The company actually started testing these new integrations with Office Insiders in the Fast Ring, but now it’s opening up the testing to all users thanks to the expanded preview of Outlook on Mac. The company stated in a blog post that it needs some more feedback on the Google Calendar and Contacts integration on Outlook for Mac — which is why it’s opening up a new worldwide preview of the new features that will be available until the 30th of June: “We still need some additional feedback before making these updates broadly available. Today, we are announcing a worldwide preview of these features that will run until June 30, 2017.
During this time, anyone can install the earliest Outlook for Mac Preview build and help us test the new Google Account experience. You will have access to the same experience as our Insider Fast community—without the requirement of being an existing Office 365 customer.” If you are a Mac user and want to give the new Google integration a try, you can get Some links in the article may not be viewable as you are using an AdBlocker.
